Has anyone ever used Kordon Ich Attack, an organic herbal naphthoquinone, to treat ich? I have a guppy with one visible ich spot, and he seems to be a little bloated, not much, but a little. I hate to start the salt protocol if it could contribute to the development of bloat

I don't have experience with this brand. I do suggest skipping on the salt and using something like you have there or Quick Cure.

the kordon is i think the best ich treatment you can use.

I would recommend using salt and heat. Its the only method I have ever used for ich and I have only lost one fish while using it. I treat at 2 tsp per gallon and raise the temp to 87degrees or so. Also, make sure its ich and not something like a fungus or infection. Do you have a picture?

I used Kordon quite successfully--before I got my inverts and switched to the Jungle brand safe for scaless fishes...

Salt treatment is the only time I've lost a fish with Ich, so I guess it depends on the fish, etc.

I do have a pic I'll try to attach. But, after treating for 5 days, there are no more specks on any of the fish. I talked to a marine biologist and he thinks it may be a bacterial infection. I started adding Melafix and it seems the cyst/nodule has gotten smaller, and somewhat flater and elongated rather than round, on the fin.
I don't have a recent pic, but this is what it started out looking like. Also, to the eye it is not so white. The flash made it stand out. It is just a tiny bit lighter than the orange fin itself.
First pic is not good, but the second shows the speck.

That looks big to be ich. Looks to be a fluff of fungus. If there is only one spot, chances are it is not ich.

Unless you have caught it early. I mean technically you have to have one spot at one time or another. You may want to see what comes of it though just to make sure.

Thanks, I'll continue the treatment. It may be that I did catch ich really early, or it may be something else. I do notice things that are tiny. I am extremely myopic, and when I take off my glasses I can see very very close up. My friends joke that I can practically see bacteria.
It really doesn't have a fluffy look to it at all, though. It looks that way in the photo, but really close up it is almost like it's underneath the filmy membranous covering of the fin, and on or a part of the tiny thin boney spines that are the support structure within the fin. It is the color of the fin only a slightly lighter shade.
