Oh man, now I really feel old!

I graduated high school in 1985.

I remember we had a smoking area that we could go to between classes.

I remember hearing hearing a CD for the first time on the radio. They made a real big deal out of it. No static!

Bowling for Soup's "1985" about says it all:)

It's hard to forget the 80's and try and reminisce when there are still signs of that decade all around us in the present time! Girls are wearing leggings and skirts over tights, pumas and 'roos are still popular shoes, many popular 80's songs are being used in product ads, 80's toys are being revamped for this generation of kids, etc. Do any of you girls (and guys too I guess) remember having a popple as a toy? A cute little stuffed animal thing that could roll into itself? It was a late 80's/early 90's toy, and I thought it was no longer being made, but a couple years back I saw brand new Popples for sale. They were bigger and more vibrant in color. Who remembers Teddy Ruxpin? Hopefully they won't bring that freaky thing back (or have they already?)!

I was just trying to find the names of the first MTV VJ'S and found this sad news.

J.J. Jackson, remembered as one of the first faces of MTV, died Wednesday night in Los Angeles of an apparent heart attack, according to friends and former business associates. He was 62.

LOL. You know you're a Child of the Eighties if:

Ya ever sang Weird Al's "Eat It".

Ya remember M.C. Hammer's parachute pants.

Ya ever wore parachute pants.

Ya remember Molly Ringwald in "The Breakfast Club", "Sixteen Candles", or "Pretty in Pink".

Ya had a crush on Molly Ringwald (guys).

Ya remember Anthony Michael Hall as the geeky kid in the first two movies, as well as in "Weird Science" with Kelly Lebrock (SIZZLE).

Ya remember Kim Catrall when she really WAS hot!

Ya thought wearing a glove only on one hand was stylin'.

The saying "Gag me with a spoon" holds some meaning for ya.

Ya ever wore a fedora to a school dance.

Ya ever played Pac-man, Asteroids or Space Invaders in a 7-11 or Mini-Mart on the way home from the bus stop after school.

Ya still COULD play video games in a 7-11 or Mini-Mart on the way home from the bus stop after school.

An Atari console made ya the most popular kid on the block.

Pics: Parachute pants, Ringwald and Cattrall.

I thought it was OICU812?

...god I feel old!

Was Mork and Mindy late 70's or early 80's though?

The pic of the red plad shirt is missing the wide black belt with the picture frame silver buckle and 90% of the time was accompanied by denim rather than leather, unless the leather was brightly colored. :P

Funny how "scene kids" or "emo" as some call it reminds me SO much of 80's "new wave"... I anticipate people teasing them in later life just as some now get teased about the "flock of seagulls" haricut!
