Hi Friends !
I read somewhere that surface dirt (Oilish layer) can be removed by spreading a newspaper on the surface and removing it immediately - Just wanted to know if this works and more importantly, is this safe (will any newspaper chemicals leech in to the water and harm the fish ?
Kindly advice and guide me...
Thanks a lot !

I agree, I would just use a lint-free paper towel.

well we use newspapers to clean mirrors but what i would recommend is get yourself some coffee basket filters they do wonders for removing the same stuff

Newspaper is wonderful for cleaning the glass on fireplace doors too. I would not use it in the tank tho. Paper towels, coffee filter are both good things to use.

I have to agree, we use newspaper for the mirrors, windows of the car and house, and the fireplace doors. It's great for cleaning (with glass cleaner) and leaves no residue or streaks.... but in the tank, not sure I would go that far. Not sure if there are dangers that rinses couldnt cure but all in the same, I'd rather stick with what's tried and true.

Most printers have switched to soy based inks, if you can verify that the newspaper you are using is printed with soy ink then you are good to go.

I would use papertowels so not to scratch the glass.

Yeah, I wouldn't stick newspapers in my tank. Dad used to run a paper route, we kinda had to do the sunday pre-runs and lemme tell you, after getting done with those things, my hands had a ton of ink on them. No thanks.
