Hey I am new to aquariacentral and i am also new to freshwater. I have an un-used 1 and 1/2 gallon all glass tank with a 9 watt 10000k bulb. I was looking at starting a planted nano tank but im not sure where to start?? i know the smaller the tank the harder it is to take care and maintain, but that is how saltwater is and i first started off with a half gallon for saltwater and is now running along with my 20g reef for 2 years now..well i dont know where to start with this 1 and a half gallon tank..it would be really helpful if you can give me some helpful tips for a noobie..thanks

Start with low light plants such as cryptocorynes, anubias, java fern, java moss, etc. Even with your more intense lighting they are still much easier to handle and you will not need to deal with Co2 or ferts other than the occasional dosing of seachem flourish/excel.
www.plantgeek.com is a good website for finding plants that match your setup

welcome. it is hard. i would try something like baby tears hm, anubias nana or anubias petite. stick with small plants. why so small of tank?
I also came from saltwater. It's a whole new world here.

Start with a 2 1/2 gallon or 3 gallon, then you can put two everglades pygmy sunfishes(choke tank with moss), one dario dario, one sparkling gourami or some other micro fish (these do not get up to an inch long). 1 1/2 gallons is only suitable for shrimp.
