In my never-ending quest searching for better lighting for my three aquariums that came as kits, I've been asking questions and reading over lighting threads here. From what I understand, I can improve the lighting in my 10g incandescent hood from Wal-Mart by using 2x23w spiral CF bulbs. Yay! At least one tank's lighting can be improved, I'd been using incandescent light bulbs in that one. Question though, where at Wal-Mart do I find the 23w spiral CF bulbs? Just in the general lighting dept? Are they just standard sized bulbs, or are they smaller? I just don't want to get the wrong kind of bulb and start a fire. Is this the bulb I should be looking for in the store?

2-23w bulbs will be too much on a 10g. Try going for 2-14w bulbs instead. Though they may be lower in wattage than the incandescent bulbs you had, they will be more efficient in plant growth and energy consumption than the incandescent. Also when you get the bulbs make sure you get "DAYLIGHT" these will give off a bright white light.

And yes the link you provided are the type of bulbs you should get.
Check Homedepot they carry those bulbs as well. a pack of 4-14w bulbs is $8+change in HD. Then if you still choose to go with the upper 20w bulbs then check out Walgreens they have a 4pack of 27w bulbs for $10.

I will try to get the 10-14w then. Thank you both!!
