I have turned direction of where I want to go with my 125. I wa soging to go with a catfish style tank and changed direction after some research.
I want to go with a planted tank with smaller schooling fish and have a peaceful community tank.
Here is my new list, tell me what you think and what you might remove, add or increase. I want alot of color.
12 DENISON BARBS 10 ZEBRA DANIOS 4 NEON BLUE DWARF GOURAMI 6 FALSE JULII CORY CAT 6 RED FIRE GUPPIES 6 GREEN COBRA GUPPIES 6 BLUE COBRA GUPPIES 6 BOESEMANI RAINBOW 10 HARLEQUIN RASBORA 5 SIAMESE ALGAE EATER 10 OTOCINCLUS CATFISH 20 CARDINAL TETRAS 20 NEON TETRAS 10 BLACK SKIRT TETRA 10 X RAY PRISTELLA TETRAS
I taked with a few people and want to know what plants I can have. I was told with my lighting I can have anything, but I might have too much light. I will be using 4 96 watt Power compact bulbs. 2 are 10K daylight bulbs and the other 2 are Actinic.

I prefer larger schools of only 1 or 2 fish over multiple smaller schools...and it does look like it's too much stock, IMO. For instance, 12 8" puntius denisonii is going to fill that tank.

I dont know what puntius denisonii is.
I made the list not only for compatibility, but for size as well. I want to stick to smaller fish. I think the largest fish I have in the list is 3 or 4 Inches. The tank is 6 feet long 18 inches high and 24 deep.

Otherwise Hows my lighting? Is it too much for a planted tank? What could I keep that is easy? I want to start out slow and get the hang of caring for plants.

Post in the planted forum for better responses.
I think it's a bit much for the low light plants.

For the exception of the barbs, is the list sufficient?

Only one dg. Even in a tank that size aggression is unavoidable. And plan for fry...

i also say pick one school. the bosemanis would be awesome to watch in a larger school, and you'll see great colors.
10 ZEBRA DANIOS 4 NEON BLUE DWARF GOURAMI 6 RED FIRE GUPPIES 6 GREEN COBRA GUPPIES 6 BLUE COBRA GUPPIES
pick one of these for top dwellers, except for tyhe dwarf gouramis. get one of those. know that you can mix and match guppies.
12 DENISON BARBS 6 BOESEMANI RAINBOW 10 HARLEQUIN RASBORA 20 CARDINAL TETRAS 20 NEON TETRAS 10 BLACK SKIRT TETRA 10 X RAY PRISTELLA TETRAS
pick two species from this list and get larger schools. keep in mind that the barbs will stock the tank, so it would be best to skip them. if you choose the rainbowfish, then you will have to keep the other numbers low or stick with 6.
6 FALSE JULII CORY CAT 5 SIAMESE ALGAE EATER 10 OTOCINCLUS CATFISH
the corydoras are fine as-is, but pick either the SAE's or the otos.

Ok great. I was told since I do have a lrager tank that I would need alot of cleanup algae eaters? Thats why i had 2 different types, to mix it up a little. Will the 10 otos be enough for my tank size?
Also would shrimp be able to co inside with my fish list? Or do I need certain foilage for the shrimp to feed off of ?
