Ok, I just have to ask...
How would a group of Y. sidthimunki do in my 30 gallon? Stock right now is 5 female bettas, 3 otos, and a single ancistrus spp. (bn plec).
I am mainly concerned with:
A) Overstocking/being bottom heavy
B) stressing out the bettas by adding active fish like sids
I figured I might as well ask seeing as people have posted some great online deals. Although with it being winter I'm really unsure about shipping live fish. Possibly a LFS can special order.
Get 10-15 of them. If you can provide floating plants, the bettas will be fine.

Really, that many would work? Sounds a little tight to me...
I have some duckweed (of course) and brazilian pennywort that is floating.

Considering their size, not to me. It's up to you.

It would be cool to have a group that size, for sure. But even at $10 a fish I may have to start smaller...thanks Lup! I've almost made up my mind :D

I agree with Lupin. They stay really small, 15 would be fine :)
There are some schistura species that stay rather small too. I have see quite a few tigers for sale lately here.

Unfortunately the places around here are limited in terms of loach stock. Mainly kuhlies, yoyos, clowns and dojos...

Ya can't beat sids for entertainment ! I have a small shoal of 7 in my 46 BF, along with a male betta and a couple (?)(chuckle, chuckle !) plecos. And lots of other stuff, too. They all play nice together. The sids are only at the bottom during break time ! The rest of the time they are at recess swimming all over the tank ! Good luck.

Very lucky! Of the 2 stores I have visited recently there haven't been any. Hopefully I'll be getting to one of the nicer stores in the area which have way better stock in the near future. I'd rather not order/ship from online and find out there are some only 30 minutes away...

Once you're in for shipping, you might as well get 8-10 :evil_lol:. There won't be any question of "enough" sids & you will "save" on shipping for additions, a bargain :thm:! A small price for years of loachy enjoyment :hearts:

:iagree:Get as many as you possible can at one time. They love their own company!! Soon after I got my first 6, I regretted not getting double that for barely much more in shipping $$.

No comment on them being snacks.:nono: And those eggs are unpalatable so your fish can look at you in disdain for all they care.;)

Darn it!
Now I'm having a hard time finding good stock and a reasonable price...no sellers on aquabid and the only online vendor I can find is liveaquaria but sids are $20 a piece!

:y220e::y220e:....can't wait to hear all about it when you get them! And if you don't have frozen bloodworms, you should get some. They LOVE them!!! If I hold the cube, they come up and take the worms.

Talked to Frank and he's not shipping until after Christmas, which is good because then I won't be tempted to buy them ahead of time.
Now I have to wait.....argh!
