Hi everyone,
If comparing a 1x96w Ahsupply bright kit with the total wattage of 96w say CFL, would the wpg rule change?
If my current setting is low light 96w over a 40G tank = 2.4Wpg - can it be considered medium light with Ahsupply bright kit?
Kindly help please!!!

the whole WPG "rule" sucks. Shouldn't even called a rule, more a vague guideline.
The 96w AH kit would supply far better par than say 96w of CFL lighting, partly because of restrike.
Also look at the source. A single 96w tube will also put out better quality of light than the CFLs.
AH Supply is very cheap with their 96w kit. But if your looking for even better light that could last you 17 YEARS without ever having to change bulbs, LED would be great route. Only issue is that instead of $60 your looking at about $250. But that would only be like spending $14 a year. Of course you would be saving a little bit of electricity as well.

So are you saying you have 96w of the spiral flourescent bulbs on your tank now, and you are looking to switch to a 96w AH supply setup? I would say the AH supply kit would be vastly superior.

I agree. They are much more efficient in terms of light output.

Thanks for helping me. You are right Sploke, I plan to replace those existing 4x24w CFL unfortunately the International bright kit is currently out of stock.
i had 72w of CFL over my 29g and had okay growth.. then replaced it with a 55w ahsupply kit and the tank was not only brighter but the plants grew better. I would say AHsupply is the Cadillac of PC lighting. Them reflectors really give the tank all the light it needs.
