next question...
has anyone seen or heard of the GOLDEN LOACH?
i had one about 15 years ago, he was somewhat like a weather loach except thinner, very bristled whiskers and stiff front fins. his coloration was pretty much yellow. maybe 3". i assume he may have been an albino strain of a more common loach, but i've yet to see any that looked like him.

I know it's been a while... but I just acquired two "golden kuhli loaches" from the fish store. Perhaps this is what you had?

The Petsmart in Gainesville has two of those "Golden Loaches." They look and behave just like normal dojo loaches except for their unusually bright coloration. One even has a "saddleback" splotch of brown. I'd say that there are multiple varieties of the Dojo and Khuli species, just like koi and goldfish have their own breeds.

They really do look nice, but I don't have the right tank or tanks to give them a good home. They've been there for several months now. (I know because the markings seem to be unique to each individual.)

I have bought one of these from that specific Petsmart.

Not the best pic, but you can see his markings.
