After I lost a large amount of my Fish Stock in the power outage in August, I live in Detroit, my Fiance got me a new fish. A Black Stripe Chiclid. I had never heard of one, but it was small and I decided to put it in my tank.

He started to get very vicious to all my other fish, Mostly Lamprologus Species, He was fin nipping very badly, and I decided to isolate him. He is now in a 2.5 gallon tank I had a betta in at one point.

Basically I would like to know if anyone has any ideas what to do with this fish? I tried to find an LFS that would take him, but so far the few I have contacted are not interested at all. I refuse to kill him or let him die. So far he seems content in the small tank, he is rearanging the gravel every day to opposite sides of the tank.

I know when he is larger, he is only about 2 1/2" at the moment, my research seems to show he would be upwards of 12-14" when fully grown, so in the long run I know i cna't keep him.

I'm just confused about this...I have never been in the position to need to get rid of a fish before.

I know he needs a bigger tank. I odn't have a bigger tank though. :( I didn't choose him, my fiance got it for me. I guess I'll just try to to find an lfs that will take him back.. He was in my 60 with my Lamprologus's, but he was almost killing all them, so I'd rather not have him in that tank.

Thanks for the help though.

You can post a classified ad here to ask anyone can take that off your hand.

Demon, actually, she told me to flush it down the toilet....I have a pair of Daffodils in my other tank and she absolutely loves them... He nipped the tips of both their tails off, so she hates the black belt now.

I think I found an lfs thatwill give me 1/2 credit for him.
