what's this sword?

I wouldn't judge so fast. Give it a couple weeks in your tank. Amazon swords grown emersed (only roots in the water, leaves out) have more rounded leaves. Once in the water for a while they will start to produce more slender leaves. Good looking sword either way.

Thanks for the replies. It's been in there for about a month, but I only changed my lighting to a 2wpg this week, so I guess I'll have to wait for it to grow more.

what was ur watt per gal. before????

oh yeah... is certainly a sword.. and, looking pretty good, at that! as for the melon part, can not say with certainty here, as the "melon' sword i have in my one tank at present and the ones labeled as such i have seen for sale here in my area do not resemble that at all...
by the way that looks like a rather impressive tail in the photo of a pretty nice red tailed shark....

Interesting. That explains why my swords have two different types of leaves. The newest leaves are slender while the old leaves are rounded with a longer stem.

Nice looking sword, whatever variety, and I'm surprized it did so well for a month under 1Wpg from everything I've read. What size tank is it in? I've also read they get HUGE!! Been wanting one, but scared to put it in my 20g tank. I've got about 1' from substrate to surface and read that they get about 2' tall!
