What kind of lighting should I get?

Ok, so we're getting there, Today I got gravel, tonite I begin to fill it, tomorow the WORLD! (J/k) really, tomorrow-- or more realistically sometime in the next week I'd like to begin to light my tank.

Now, If I'm going with low light plants, should I go with a flourescent? Compact bulbs?

I'm going to be purchasing the fixtures from homedepot and installing my self but I'm unsure what to go with.
