Someone came into work, (Pet Supplies Plus) the other day wondering about getting a custom tank built. I told him we wheren't able to order one or make one ourselves. I also told him that since he isn't a fish kinda guy, (just wants something good for his office,) he should probably get it installed by someone as well.

He wants a tank to go in a wall. It would be about 4-6 inches deep, and maybe 4 feet long. Based on what he told me, I can say that he will probably need an overflow setup because the tank will have to be viewable from both sides. The whole thing would probably be a good $500 contract, at least. If anyone is willing to do this, just reply! The office is in Michigan, in Metro Detroit.

6" deep? Thats puny. If I was closer I could do it. Making a tank that size out of acrylic is very simple. (dont know how you would do the overflow, maybe use one side)

If I was closer I could do it for you, but im afraid it would cost quite a bit to ship something like that.

And it's gonna cost him a whole lot more than $500.

Is this home office or commercial? 48x?x6? How thick is this wall?

I'll be building another tank soon. An acrylic 72x24x12h -90 gal tank. A sheet of 8'x4'x1/4" acrylic cost about $85 here in the Detroit area. Building a custom tank thats less than 13" tall is cheap.

But for me to put a tank in an office building's wall, I'd need to hire a licensed contractor, an electrician, then have it inspected by the fire marshall. Not many people would want to look at this job for less than $3,000.

If its a home office, can this job be done under the table? shhhh. quiet everyone. I'd love the chance to put a big hole the wall and possibly burn down the house, but still its gonna cost alot more than $500. Lets say, $1,500 + all the beer I can drink.

Nahh, you could build a tank that size for under $100.
