I am going to start a fiddler crab tank. A 10 gallon tank. I was wondering what kind of sand to use. Like playground sand? thanks

My local Petsmart uses the black moon sand for their crab tank, its pretty nice.

Okay thanks, well I'm not trying to be mean to you but I'm kinda looking for white sand because I would like it to look like a beach:)

I use a mixture of pool filter sand and play sand in my brackish tank. Not really white, more of a tan/buff color. You can get aragonite sand which is more white, but its more expensive.

Tan color is okay too but what I was saying is to have something more beachy type. Well thanks when I get the sand i'll post pics of setting the tank up:)

Not to change the subject, but how do you keep the crabs from escaping? If you have a HOB filter, then cutting the plastic to go perfectly around it seems pretty hard. WHich means you end up with a small hole that a crab could escape through.

I'm not sure all I know is that your supposed to have some kind of net or something over the tank. Maybe what you could do is cut a hole where the filter is and just stick the filter in the hole.
