Okay here is the 15 gallon I'm setting up for low PH softwater shrimpies. Now this is before I have started to drop it and before leaf litter has been added. I have a handfull of oak leaves soaking to go in the tank I will then add the leaves and the water and test and see if that will drop the PH or if I have to go for more drastic means.

Tank Stats:
15 Gallon Tall
20 Gallon Sponge Filter
100 Watt Heater
1 Amazon Sword
4 Vallisneria Americana (This is the larger species that reaches 24"+ in length commonly called tape grass, eel grass, or water celery)
4 Dwarf Chain Swords
3 Crypt Wendtii Bronze
4 Java Ferns (super glued to wood)
5 Bunches of Unknown Moss (super glued to wood and larger rocks)
4 Stems of Unknown Plant
3 Big Rocks
2 Handfulls of Black Rock
1 large Cedar Root.

That looks really good. I actually started thinking lately that I might wanna set up a small tank for some plants and inverts especially after seeing all the really cool ones on this forum. Fish tanks are so addicting, it wasn't too long ago that I set up a new one and now I already want another! Good luck with the shrimp. Do you know which ones you're stocking yet?

More than likely tiggers

It's beautiful. Do you need denser foliage to offer refuge to young if/when they breed?

i like how you use the Vallisneria americana to camouflage the heater and filter. For a moment I wondered why you had such a tall plant in the foreground :) Cured superglue doesn't have any adverse effects on shrimp?

I hope you keep this updated, I wanna see those shrimp!

When this tank is thru growing in there will be very little open space. Right now they can get under the wood and my cherries did just fine in a duplicate setup and plant density.

Actually that is the back....:) this tank is set on a counter so you can look thru it from 3 sides....

I have used superglue for years and I have not had any problems. It works even when wet. One of the cool things is the glue forms a shell almost instantly when it contacts water. So I put a bead down on the wet wood it shells over then I just press the plant into the glue and it breaks the shell and reforms at once. Only thing you have to get used to is anyplace you can see the glue will look like a white fungussy area until either the plants grows over it or a couple of months for it to age. I have put decor in a tank within minutes of glueing, all I do is wait for it to setup fully about 5 to 10 minutes. I have had no adverse effects on any of my fish or water chemistry.

My understanding is once fully dry superglue is inert, but I was told that by an old salter who used it to tack down corals.

Super glue is safe - you can use it to seal cuts; I have used it many times to seal the skin after snipping off dew claws on 2 day old puppies.....no adverse effects.
BTW, I love the tank. The shrimp will love exploring all the nooks and crannies.

Knew it was safe for humans learned that one the hard way good news no infection and very little scarring.... :-) didn't know about tanks until the old reefer, may his clams never smell, told me that he used it.

I think they will too but now comes the hard part dropping the PH....
