Heres some pics of my Baby D. Her name was originally Dez, but as she grew, she developed a volitile temper, so her new name is Deicide, but I have always called her baby D~or baby bword! some of the pics are from when she was about 5 mo. old and the last one is of her last week. I love her but i may have to sell her soon because she is growing less and less tolerant of other people. she is pretty good for me, but she gets pretty mean when any one else tries to get close to her. I just dont want my daughters gettin hurt. so far she is pretty accepting of my 5 yr old and my 8 yr old is not interested in her. it is mostly new people she cant stand, but i still dont want to take any chances, especially when my neice and nephew come over. but heres some pics anyhow, i think she is so beautiful! if any of ya know some one around memphis tn that has experience with iguanas and no kids tell them to hunt me up, i would probly give her to a good home, or trade for fish, lol. gotta be someone with no fear tho, she tries to be quite dominate.

Wow, she's a beaut! I use to have a large green iguana that was puppy dog tame. He was very chill, the only thing he hated were my dogs and seeing his reflection in a mirror. Unfortunately Iggi got kidney failure and died at 14 years old. I miss him but I don't think I'll ever have another iguana because they're a lot of work and they need a very large enclosure. Lucky for me Iggi was litter box trained and was loose most of the time. Good luck rehoming her. :)

How long have you had her for? How often do you handle her? When I got Iggi he was about a foot long. I held him all the time (I was 12 when I got him) so he learned to not fear people pretty quickly.

Hey Power, we got MILLIONS of those things running around down here in South Florida. You probably don't want to hear this but most people are trying all they can to get rid of them ,they eat everything , flowers and gardens. A few months ago I had some watermelon seeds I planted in the ground. A few days they sprouted, next day they were gone.
They were cool to see around 30 years ago but you would not believe it, they are everywhere. There is one spot near a canal here , it looks like little Jurasic Park :)

^ ditto. iv caught many iguana in my day including a four footer with only three legs :D beautiful iguana, i bet he loves the pool

I still can't get over how green your iguana is. I bet it's an El Salvadorian strain.

I handle her quite often, and my sis in law pook, used to before we moved out. But other than that most people are to afraid of her. Once you get her cozi and settled down she can really be quite sweet! I kinda think she just hasnt been handled by enough different people. I love her to bits and am not going to actively try to rehome her, but if i come across someone who could give her a great home, i would def. consider the possibility. My hubby wants ferrets agin, and lizards are toxic to them, so, like i said, not actively hoping to part with her. jus something we are considering. I would love to live where they're are wild iguanas to observe. I think I would plant a garden just for them to come and eat, so i could take tons of pics of them. I have always wanted to move to brazil, i hear they are pretty common down their too. I too think they are just facinating creatures. I believe after sharing my home with lil D, that god really intended them to be wild with plenty of room to roam. D is pretty happy with her life, but I make a lot of accomodations for her. In the summer she spends a lot of time outside! She has a leash and goes for walks a lot, and loves to spend time in the pool. I refuse to cage her unless it is outside for her own safety, or if I transport her. She gets a vastly varied diet and access to all the water she can handle, and even swims in the fish tank from time to time. She has a good relaxing life, but I still believe these are really ment to be wild. I of course would not release her, as i dont know what strain she is, or how long it has been domesticated. I also know that most "tame animals cannot survive out their due to lack of thriving skills." I am absolutely amazed by this lil chick, i just hope she doesnt get any more grumpy then she gets now, lol. she is quite tempermental some days!
