Keep taking pictures on your favorite setting and keep an eye on the f and shutter speed on the pictures that turn out good. That will teach you which settings work the best for that type of shooting.

Nikon D50 with 2 Tamron lenses.

One is a 55-200mm 1:4-5.6 and the other is a 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6
 
Nice pictures! My favorite is the one with the white angel surrounded by guppies (12th one down I think).
 
cool congrats. i also shoot with a d50. Best to use manual focus on close up fish shots in the tank. The autofocus has a hard time locking on to fish in the open sometimes.
