Haustrum and giant rams interbreed?

Well I have a Haustrum snail and three giant ramshorn snails and I need to know if they will interbreed as they will with briggs? I have them housed together right now but the haustrum is only bout the size of a nickle right now. will I need to separate them?
I would really like to have a couple more haustum if anyone has any in Arkansas. Or permits to ship them.If thats legal?

I've only ever heard of the Marisas crossbreeding with Asolene Spixis, never anything about any of the other apples that lay above water... I can't see how that would work.
And, no, no permits for interstate shipment on Haustrums or Marisas, you have to get them within your state. :)

Giant rams are apple snails, so are spixis, haustrums, briggs, and canas, as well as many other species. Apple snails are anything in the ampullariidae family.

I realize this that is why I was asking the original question . If it was true that they would interbreed.

As far as I know, giant rams can interbreed with asolene spixis, but no others.

My giant ram has tried with my briggs but it never turned to anything besides a little spooning and then the brigg would close his door on the rams tool. LOL!
If it was possible they would be cuties but deformed cuties I am afraid.


I agree with Rach, only heard of the rams being able to cross with spixi's.

Kell, I will keep my eyes open for you some more haustrums.

Hey I did I tell ya I found a pretty kool lfs in paragould? It is on main street in the downtown area just up the stree from where we play. somthing tropical? heck my mind is blank right now.

Cool, after the holidays are over I am wanting to go on another lfs hunt. I am getting disappointed with my local 1. We are going to have to set a date to go fishing, one weekend would be great.

How does anybody get them if they can't be shipped from state to state?

You have to find somebody who breeds them in your state. If you find them legally, consider yourself lucky.

That, and there are countless sellers who're shipping them across state lines regardless of law.
