It's what I'm feeding my land hermit crabs. It's powder.

Could you please mention what brand it is? I feed HBH crab and lobster bites as well as Hikari crab cuisine in addition to kens catfish pellets and occasional veggie. I don't think that anything in that food raises big warning bells.

I think the crab would do better with a higher protein partially meat based diet. Sounds more like some stuff designed to catch hippies rather than feed crabs. They are omnivores but I doubt a meal of hemp seed is the norm.

I forgot. It's T-Rex Crab Island Hermit Crab Food. This is the only commercial food out there that doesn't contain copper sulphate and/or Ethoxyquin. I was advised that hermit crabs are very sensitive to those two ingredients. Which brings to mind Hikari's Crab Cuisine, though made for aquatic crabs, is copper free as well.

I was also advised that hermit crabs need more veggies and fruit than meat. But I'll supplement some meat for them. Good idea.

I found out that Hikari is putting out a Shrimp Cuisine and that contains some copper sulphate. I asked them and they said that shrimp need a higher level of copper than crabs who get it from their environment. I'll probably end up buying this for them.

I feed mine algae wafers, and shrimp pellets. Heck, I have even tossed in sinking cichlid pellets that my discus couldnt catch. They'll peck at anything you put in there.

They are omnivores as Big Norsk pointed out which means they will eat just about anything. I haven't heard of copper being good for inverts but I don't know much about them anyhow. I feed mine anything I feed my fish. Mostly they get algae wafers but are supplemented with other foods. As a result, I almost always have at least 1 if not 2 berried females. I have even tossed in some small flake food on very rare occasion.
