Hi Guys.

I haven't seen my 3 4" clown loach for 2 days now.

I was getting a bit worried so this evening I stripped the decor out of the tank. I took everything out.

No clown loach.

No sign of dead fish.

Looked behind the tank too no dead fish on the floor either.

The only other place I can think they may have gone is up the outlet pipe of my fluval 405 external. I can't see them doing that but is it possible ?

This is really getting to me now and I am stumped to where they might have gone.

Odds are it was in a piece of the decor...I hope you didn't leave it out of the water.

The decore is only slate rock and drift wood. No holes for them to hide in H3D. Each bit of decore was not out of the water for more than 10 seconds. I just moved it from one end of the tank to the other while searching. I can't see 3 of them just disapearing like that.

I have found them. :)

I chucked in a fresh mussle last night before lights out.

Where ever they were hiding it did the trick.

I turned ther tank lights on and they were there.

I am just glad there ok. :)

I have no idea where they were still though.

Weird. Buried maybe?

That's a possibility. When they get scared they will do anything to hide.

You should really get them a cave or something to hide in F&I.

They have so much rock in there it would look more like an african set up if it were not for the drift wood in there too H3D. :)

Loaches prefer hide in places that have little to no light coming in. When this is not available they will go as far as to dig themselves under object. That is why it is not a good idea to keep rocks in their tanks. They could dig under them and the rock loses balance and crushes them.

They also prefer to all hide together. That is why a large cave makes a great place for them to hide. Safe and happy.

My 3 clown loaches hide under this huge piece of slate rock along with my tire track eel and a catfish. I think they are really just partying under there and don't want the other fish to know lol
