I know this place that'll be going out of business soon with a 300G Jebo aquarium.

Its used as a tank divider and it has been set up for some time, the owner is getting frustrated with all the algae issues (duh its next to a window)

anyway I should be able to get a good deal on it.

How good are the aquariums? How much should I offer, I remember the guy saying it costed him several thousands..

its this one (last)

looks fine to me. as long as the glass is thick enough and there is a center brace or two, the tank should be fine.

never hurts to low ball. is it a full set up or just the tank?

I wouldn't want the setup, its full of green water and goldfish along with a Jebo canister.

I'd love to dump everything out, spend $100 on limestone and playsand and make it into my own little piece of Lake Malawi.

:thm: My starting offer is $400.

I'm not sure if the tank is acrylic or glass though..should that affect the pricing?

I believe they are glass...the front edges are seemless and rounded the back have aeems so basically 3 pieces of glass. The only downfall is the hood that is where all the lighting and filtration is and it is not customizable. Good tanks in all though.

I am currently using jebo 829 canister filter. Jebo aquariums are curved glass aquariums i think. 300g one comes with two canisters if i'm right. 400 bucks seem right to me. New one will probably cost around 1 to 2 grand. Don't worry about lighting if u are not going to grow plants. One problem with jebo canisters is they tends to spill if u are not careful. make sure to turn off the inlet and outlet valves b4 changing the media.

My mate has a Jebo Tank. I also used to know a chinese guy in Uni who imported SunSun tanks (which are more or less the same thing).

The aquariums are usually made from acrylic, like Aqua One tanks if you know that well known brand who operate directly in the UK. The bottom is sometimes glass however. The rim of the tank acts as a complete brace and surrounds the top, bottom and back uprights of the tank.

As you say, the tank itself consists of 3 peices - the back, the bottom and the front/sides.

The aquarium also has centre bracing attached to the plastic rim. This type of bracing the entire tank allows for thinner glass/acrylic to be used apparently.

Jebo, Jinlong and Sunsun (3 of the biggest Chinese brands exporting to South East Asia, the UK and the US) mostly do acrylic tanks, but some are glass (so I don't want to say the one you are looking at is acrylic for certain - but the ones with the curved corners are generally acrylic). They all describe their acrylic thickness using the term 'glass thickness' (just to confuse you!).

I have not seen underneath the Jebo but I have a SunSun tank, it has the same bracing/rim and is also braced underneath the bottom glass with a criss cross of thick plastic. I have just bought by second SunSun tank (350L, 92 US Gallon) which I too will use for a Malawi setup.

All these tanks generally have back access to a hood filter as well.

Hope this helps you, I have more experience with Jinlong and SunSun than Jebo, but they are more or less the same thing.

In my opinon, tanks and cabinets are good, electronics are ok, but not the best.

Thanks

Do they all come with filters? I don't think I would want to use that, it doesn't seem very reliable. Last time I saw the 300G I believe it is acrylic.

I'm glad to hear the tanks and cabinets are good though.

Yeah, nearly all come with filters.

The filter is great for biological filtration and I love them (just change the power head if you want to...to a more reputable brand). The filter idea is great in my opinion.

Basically this is how all the hood filters are made:

So bascically Jebo will be a variation on the above. Water is sucked up by a normal power head into the hood and filtered through whatever you want, it is then put back into the tank.

I mean, I don't know what the tank you are looking at is like...could be totally different (I'm no expert, I just have some experience with these brands). So, don't take me as gospel, but hopefully I have helped.

ps. The above tank is a SunSun tank.

As a side note: The link provided by Kevin shows the last tank as 900L / 300 gal. That conversion looks a bit off, I come up with 900L = 238 US gal.

If it is acrylic, expect it to be scratched. If it's poorly kept as you describe the extent of scratching may not be evident until cleaned.

Thanks for the pictures, the filter design is cool, I've never seen it before, I thought the tank comes with the Jebo Canisters.

I have no idea what condition the 300G is in though. Hopefully, not too bad.

That's very true. My acrylic tanks are scratched a lot. You can't see them when the tanks are full of water however....but yeah, acrylic scratching is a major downside to it. If you know where to look you can find them though. Most of them can be buffed out, but it is indeed a pain. Plenty of upsides to acrylic though.

Kev - as I say, I'm not sure about each individual tank, so the tank you are looking at may well come with externals, but at least you know how the hooded ones look and operate now.

I know many of the extremely large SunSun and Jinlong tanks come with externals, so yeah, you could be right considering the size.
