What temps do you guys keep your assassin snails at? I recently lost one (not sure whether its my male or female....) and I am wondering if it is due to my temps. I ordered a small heater for my tank but it has not arrived yet and the temps dip to the high 60's at night sometimes in my tank (usually water temp is 73f daytime -70night). Could this have been the cause of the snails death? I am down to one assassin and want to be sure I do not kill any new ones off.

I have them at 78, not sure what their exact range is.

The tank i keep mine in also dips into the upper 60's at night and about 74 during the day and I have had no adverse effects.

59-84 but I would keep them in the standard temp range of 72-79

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully the new heater will keep the water about 76f. What are ya'lls assassins eating? Still have them on other snails or..? Mine have just about cleaned me out of large MTS/Pond snails so I will be setting up a snail breeding tank as soon as some new sponge filters arrive. I have never seen my assassin snails feeding on algae pellets or anything...

Bloodworms work wonders and they will scavenage the remaining food your fish don't eat.

No kidding, bloodworms? I am picking up some more of those later this week, this is excellent news. I have yet to see my snails macking on bloodworms, but that would explain why I see so few of them left over(the only non-snail inhabitant in their tank is a male scarlet badis).

Ya know predators always like meaty foods.
