For my 125 gal, should I buy a standard hood, buy a glass hood, use plexiglass, or other? I am thinking the plexiglass may cost almost as much as a used hood, if it's thick plexiglass? I figured I would get two 3 ft by 2 ft pieces to cover the top if I went that route. Well, it would need to be not as wide to leave room in the back I suppose. (Using hanging filters for now.) I read that other people were using 3/16" plexiglass and it could start bowing. Thanks.

I cut plexi for a few of my tanks which I believe is 3/16th" on my 55 gallon's they work great as long as you cut them to fit snug. however after I recently made 2 for my 75 gallon they bow and bend and now don't fit properly. i guess the extra 6" depth takes a lot of the support out. I'm just going to spend the $35 to get the versa glass hoods for the 75 instead. $35 is well worth keeping my cat from falling into the tank.
