I have read that bristlenose plecos add a lot of waste to the tank. That is not very specific. When you add one to a community tank, is there a noticeable increase in waste? Are they really nasty poopers or something? They are so interesting looking, and I would really like to add one to my tank as the algae eater / weird looking guy in there. But would like some insight before I buy. Thank you for your info.

I've had two before and they poop just as much as others plecos...but pelcos poop a lot compared to other fish the same size and its long stringy poop so it becomes more obvious in your tank.

Whether it would be noticeable or not will depend on the size of the tank, current stocking, and maintenance routine.
