Heyya folks. I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a question in regards to my red gracila. I've fosterd this little guy since he was a wee cutting, and now I have to prune him every two weeks or so. Anyways, its starting to develop what can only be described as grains of salt along the back edges of the "leaves". It looks almost like calcium or salt deposits. Any ideas? Thanks alot.
Do these grains ever end up on the bottom of the tank? I have a 10g full of Gracilaria and I get what looks like brown sugar gathering on the bottom of the tank. There's some on the gracilaria too, but most falls to the bottom.

Spores? I guess I need to do some poking around.
Well, I found that Gracilaria species do make a lot of spores, but I can't find what they look like.

Thanks for the replies guys. Upon closer inspection, it's not just grains, but more whole edges, such as when a leaf dies and starts to decay. Only in very small amounts though, never more than maybe a 1/4 cm in to the actually leaf. I've been having a cyano outbreak lately, and it has been 7 months since my light was replaced, so perhaps a new one will make a difference. I guess I wouldn't be able to tell if any has fallen down though. My sand is of assorted coloration. Thanks again though.
