After being out of the hobby for a few months, I have decided to start over and upgrade from my 10 gallon tank. I have a stand that I had bought for the 10 gallon, but never put together. I now put it together for the new tank. The only problem is that the weight limit for the stand is 200 lb, and I'm afraid that it might not be able to hold the 20 gallon glass tank safely. Should I be concerned or will the stand be able to hold the tank? Thanks!

Full 20 gallon should be on or just less than 200 pounds. Water is eight pounds or so a gallon, add tank and and rocks still should be under 200.

if the stand is for a ten then i would say the max tank should be a 10gal just to be on the safe side!!!!
good luck!!

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that the stand is supposed to be for 10-20 gallon tanks

The 20 filled will be right at the 200# mark (as Rich pointed out) most likely. It very well may work, but I'd be cautious.

I would be cautious and not put it on there, 20 gallons of water with fish and gravel on the floor does not sound fun.

I wouldn't use it for the 20 gallon. You're better of selling it and buying another designed to exceed 200 lbs, not be limited to that weight. If you start this off already pushing the outside edge of the weight limit, you're asking for trouble.

That's what I'm afraid of. Thanks for the help!
