I would like to get an arrowana, and I understand its need for a huge tank. But how large does an arrowana grow over a period of a month, year, or two years. Coulds I get a juvenile one, and not have to upgrade my tank in two of three years. Or does it get big really quick. Right now I have 10 gallon, and will get a 55 soon. Could I put a small juvenile arrowana in a 55, ad not have to upgrade for another three years.
How fast do they grow, and at what rate?

Leporinus Fasciati are carnivores.

From my understanding, initial growth to about 15 -24 inches is pretty quick, then slows down. There is not way that I would plan on having one in a 55 for more than about 6 months, and that would even be pushing it.

Mine is about 20 inches, he is in a 150 gallon, with 4 oscars. He's not too cramped now, but another 4 inches I think he will be. I will be upgrading to a larger tank next summer and he's goin in it. I wouldn't think about putting him in a 55 gallon. They need room to run. They also like short photo periods.
