Now the cake idea is interesting, but how many people are going to just take a pic of their fish and run off to whatever cake / ice cream joint it is that will put a picture of your choosing on the cake frosting? (I think it was Baskin Robins that offers that gimmick, not sure)

Since "smallest" nano is redundant, how about best nano layout? It would just be like the "tank of the month" but have a size limit on the tanks that can be entered, like nothing bigger than 2.5 gallons.

i like the smallest nano idea but it shouldnt solely be judged on the sheer(sp?) volume(or lack of volume) it should also be judged on appearance, the way everything looks together(ie. not just stuffed jammed in a reall small tank or bowl or whatever), and finally a journal thread proving the tank(or whatever you chose to use) is sustained(ei. it doesnt crash or anything like that)

i think this would be a great idea and have an open voting to the public for the winner at the end of the month(or however long you think is right to prove that the tank isnt teetering on the edge of disaster that could happen at anytime)

Adding the journal thread is a great idea. it could double as a tutorial for newbs. if someone crashes a tank hard don't do that, haha

it's really not. a photo of a tank and a video of a tank tell very different stories. some really beautiful tanks can sometimes be boring on video. sometimes a tank that doesn't appear to have the best layout will come to life when you see how the water flows and fish react.

I have to agree with mellowvision. Still Photography and Videography are very different art forms. A lot of beauty that is lost in the activity of a video can be captured in a frame. At the same time, a lot of the harmony of life that can not be captured in a frame can be caught on video. TOTM should remain still, as it is a testament to the overall 'snapshot' of a tank; Best Video of a tank in action wouldn't even need to include the whole tank, it would be much more about the residents.

Bake and decorate a cake that looks like one of the mods, or, in the baker's opinion, represents the style or essence of the mod of the Baker's choice. (I keep going back to cakes because my husband loves to eat cake and is always looking for an excuse for me to bake a cake that has lots of icing. :grinyes:)

On the page with the picture of each cake in the contest, have the mods listed:

a: Msjinkzd
b: Lupin
c: Reefscape .
d: Kasta
e: Coler
f: Rbishop
g: etc., etc
Voters choose the mod that the particular cake represents. The one with the most correct guesses wins.

Photos should be taken during the process to prove you did it, and no photo icing cakes.

I dunno... that sounds kind of goofy.... I guess I'll just go ahead and bake my husband a cake for no specific reason, lol.

AND I also want to have the pumpkin carving contest this year, hopefully we can get more pictures this year, maybye have 2 pumpkins per entry, that way It can be themed in 2 diff ways, That way You can have one fish themed, and one say halloween themed, and still be able to win, OR have 2 diff pumpkin contest , ONE for aquatic pumpkins, and the other for everything else pumpkins .. :)

if you think about it.....every suggestion is limiting in a way....or atleast it could be somewhat unfair.
(Like the sea food cooking competition, people in cali have more resources then people in say---utah!)

For instance ( this is not meant to be that funny, it merely serves as an example). People would cast their vote based on the photo( or not if AC provided it) and the captions humor.
