A few pics of my new inhabitants, and a few of the old ones too.. Forgive the floating debris, this is a planted tank in transition and the filter can't keep up with all the junk left in there.. Few more water changes and it should be back on track.

Check out the teeth on the male.. Gonna have to be careful with those water changes I guess.

Description of the pics, in order..

  1. one of the juveniles
  2. the male
  3. the dojo loach
  4. the female
  5. the green guys (the big one is about 4" long)
  6. another one of the juveniles
  7. male again
  8. female again
  9. shot of the male's teeth..
These are a breeding pair that were given to me by a local breeder. She gave me a bunch of juvenile cories too..

Thats a very nice looking pair. You better watch those teeth! Especially in breeding mode he may not like your hands..

Yeah, he does look a wee bit lethal, ehh? The male is about 6" nose to tail, and the femal is about 4" nose to tail. They've been going around in circles for the last few hours. The breeder I got them from told me that she'd had them in separate tanks for a while now, but I think they still remember each other.. Their breeding stripes have been fading in and out and they've been swimming around each other constantly.. The smaller one seems to be the agressor though.. I don't really want fry, but I'm anxious to see them in full breeding stripes.. I love that look on these guys.. Here is a video showing how they'll look:

They look very saltwater-ish when striped.. A lot like a 3 stripe damsel.. Probably about as mean too..
