So I have a 29 gallon tank with three red zebras ane two yellow tailed violet cichlids. Right now the biggest fish is four inches maybe a little more. The others are not much smaller. Are they too big for their tank?

I'm getting a new tank either 55 or 75. I have a desk for a 55 to sit on but I'd have to buy a stand for the 75. So it's looking like 55. I was buying it for them, but now considering saltwater. I'm confused. But saltwater seems so pricey.

What kind of algae eater could I put in with these guys? I did have a big pleco but they picked on it so much I gave it away. I hate plecos anyway. Do you think maybe a smaller bristle nose or something would survive if I got the big tank? Or snails? Siamese algae eaters?

Any suggestions ideas for a new tank anything would be great. I also don't know how I'll decorate it if I put them in a bigger tank.

Thanks
Alicia

They themselves will eat the algae in the tank as it is a major part of their diet. However if you really want one then a brisltenose would work.

for decoration I recommend fine gravel and lots of rocks for them to hide amongst. there are some plants that will survive with malawi cichlids. not sure of the names though!

other than those plants then plastic is your best bet.

Oh yeah and what other cichlids and how many do you think I could put in with my other fishies?
