I have a new tank (240l) with no fish - only plants - the tank is two weeks old and going through a slow cycle (I am taking it easy). I have planted few swordplants (Echinodorus cordifolius I think) week ago - the plant seems to be doing OK - the old leafs are holding vibrant green color but all three plants are growing new leafs very fast (lie 10cm leaf in 3 days) but the new leaf are red-brownish color.

So I wonder is that normal or is the plant traying to tell me something. Here is the recent chamistry in the tank:

pH 6.9; GH 17; KH 14; NH3 1.5; NO2 1.0; NO3 25; PO4 0.5; Fe 0.6; Temperature 27C

There are some species of swords plants that the new growth leafing out is a reddish colour and then turns to green. We have a couple of them but I can't think of the name of it right now, they are nice though! As long as the plant looks healthy I would guess it's okay.
