Wooo! My first Red Cherry Shrimp! These little guys are so much cooler than I thought they'd be.
I do have a question though...
I bought 3, and one of them is holding eggs on her stomach (berried, right?). I've had them for three days, and I was wondering how long those eggs would be there? I can't seem to find any info on this. Anything else I should know about baby shrimp?
Thanks!

They can hold them for a couple of weeks. When you are able to see a black spot in each egg (it is the eyes of the babies inside the eggs) then the babies will be released soon. It is a good idea to cover your filter intake with a media bag or sponge to prevent the shrimplets from being sucked up into the filter. They are really, really small.

Cool!!
depending on the temperature it can take 2-3 weeks. The warmer it is, the faster they'll grow (long as you don't cook them of course!)

Cool. Thanks!
I love these little guys. I see a lot of people on these boards that have shrimp only tanks, and I never really got that, but now I do.
I have a couple of empty 5.5 gallon tanks sitting around.... Hmmm........

Thanks everyone!
I already took an AC20 sponge and put it over the intake of my filter. But I have one more question...
Should I do anything special when I'm gravel vacuuming? As in not to suck up any shrimp/baby shrimp?
Thanks again!

I use airline tubing or a super tiny siphonand just go slow. ANother option is to cram a sponge into the siphon tube.

Could always siphon into a bucket and net out any shrimps you happen to suck up.
