I need some help fast please!

Robbie Jr., my old betta, was floating at the top of his tank today. He's ashy looking and kind of swollen near his head region or maybe he's just really thin. So I thought he was dead and being lazy, I left him until tonight to take out of the tank.

So he's on the bottom of the tank now and I'm like, weird but okay and I stick in the net and he moves! He's alive but just barely.

I was away for five days and the pet sitter was supposed to have fed him. Whether she did or not, I can't be sure.

But before all of this, he's been going downhill. I think he has swim bladder problems so I researched it but didn't have sufficient time to fast him before I had to leave for the week.

What should I do??? Should I put him in on a bed of java moss in a cup so he'll be right at the top of the water so he won't have to struggle to get up for air or food? And should I put the cup on a heating pad?

Should I medicate him? With what? Should I go ahead and give him a pea or regular food? If he does make it, how long should I wait before fasting him?

He's looking horrible but I don't want to give up. I don't know if I'm capable of deciding to put him down. I have clove oil just in case but I really don't want to have to do it.

I'm not too good with bettas but this is really sad...

it's up to you... I'd take him and put him in the cup and see how he does...

I don't know why it won't let me edit my post but... I have him in one of those clear plastic food containers filled a little more than halfway with java moss almost to the top so he's laying on it with his head near the top so all he has to do is lift his head a little for air.

The container's on a heating pad and I'm defrosting some blood worms for him. I'm going to gently put them in his mouth with a toothpick.

if he cannot eat on his own it may be time to put him down.

If his belly is swollen bloodworms might not be the best idea maybe try feeding a boiled peeled pea.

Sometimes pet sitters whom are not used to fish feed too much. I would try a pea, and some mela/betta fix and see how he responds to that.

I think he's dead now.

I'd go with a pea as well. Just to test it out.

He was a good fish... He flared at everybody when he was my brother's but stopped once he became mine. I guess that I have that calming affect on fish. Lol.
