I recently aquired a 55 that needed to be resealed. So off I go to a local hardware store to find some GE1 like most people use. They didnt have any, but recommended me this product:
Liquid Nails Clear Seal
This stuff is true to its name, and even says its for aquariums on the package. It has dried perfectly clear.
However...:swear: It also says that it skins over in 5 minuites. This is absolutely true. Once you run a bead, and tool it, immediatly take the tape off. I didnt do that on one corner, and by the time I got back to take the tape off, it was stuck in the sealant. Had to redo that corner a 2nd time.
Other than that, this stuff is great. It is very thick and stretches a long way, I did all five(lol) corners with only 1/2 of one tube, and it WILL STICK to old silicon. I only needed to do the corners of my tank for asthetic reasons, the bottom was sealed fine. So I just made sure to clean the old silicon where they would meet, and this product has stood by its name. It has adhered to the old silicon just as good as the clean glass.
