I've decided to do this one right instead of just half-a**.

I added a few things this time to start out with. I went to the LFS and bought me a 5lbs Llive Rock and took a hammer to it. I scooped out all my bioballs and put in the LR rubble, so hopefully that helps the nitrate problem. I also decided to get another flow source since the single flow for the Oceanic Biocube isnt strong enough. I got a Hydro Koralia with a 400GPH rate which you can see in the photo.

I worked with my Rock sculpting and came out with something I fill would be fitting for now and the future.

So I hope you will enjoy the ride, and please don't hesitate to criticize me on anything, or add some pointers.

Thanks.

Switching from bioballs to LR rubble isn't going to resolve your nitrate problems. Both are biological filter media. Granted, you may get some anaerobic denitrification areas near the bottom of the rubble, but unlikely enough to handle the nitrates of your system.

How deep is your sand bed?

Your aquascape looks really nice and the rocks are really colorful. Im not too sure if I like the white rock on the top right, it doesnt really fit

Your sand bed needs to be around 3" to start taking advantage of denitrification IME. I wouldn't worry about the white rock, even though it does look out of place, it will be covered with coralline algae soon enough.

I'd add live sand or maybe something off garf.org site like their garf grunge. I have friends that swear by it, but I know there's some people here who don't like it.

Tested water this morning, and it couldn't be more perfect.

Amonia was 0
Nitrates were 0
Nitrites were 0
and I was at 179 with my kH

Probably go to the LFS tomorrow and get me a CUC. any suggestions on a good set of snails/crabs?
