Alone it should be fine in a tank by itself but can be very aggressive it is recommended that a group of 12 or more in a suitable size tank for them to coexist..

He looks like a juvie right now but be careful if you add more of his kind.. also he may not like others and they dont play fair..

They are quarrelsome with their own kind, but should be fine as the only one in the tank. As a group, they should be all added at one time.

How big do you think this fish gets? Would it get along with aggressive africans?

I think they get like 5 to 6 inches and it will be a hit or miss situation on aggression if you have robust aggressive cichlids they may quarrel a bit..

But they really need very clean water and a lot of roughage like veggies to help them along, a lot of protein will spell certain doom for them with bloat..

It is never a good idea to mix rift lake cichlids with those from other lakes do to the water differences.

Eh, water differences usually aren't a huge deal. Usually it's temperament that's the issue. Tangs aren't as 'outgoing' as most malawis. Tropheus are hit or miss when it comes to aggressiveness as pittbull said. They generally do best in large groups of their own species.
