What's the price of a new 60 gallon tank with stand in your area? That's the real deciding factor, since the filter, faulty lights, and misc. may or may not be of any use to you.
What type of filter does it have?
What are the actual dimensions of the tank? 60 is an odd size.
If there's trouble with the light, you'll likely have to replace it. I'd pretty much count on doing that if he's up front that there's a problem with.
I don't think it's a good deal based on the information you've provided, but I'm basing that on the deals I find on Craigslist all the time.

I don't think it's a very good deal either, especially if the light is "acting funny". Haggle him down to 150$ and go for it :D

what does he mean by acting funny? if its flickering, the light may not be seated in the sockets correctly. id haggle. it never hurts. i payed almost $300 for a new 55 with stand and lights in southern california (i know now i could have paid A LOT less)

Just depends on the market in your area. I got a 110 with stand lights and filter for 120$. That was possible because of the lack of demand.

200$ seems like a lot for that. i would hagle with him to get the price down or look around on craigslist for a better deal

id agree with most people in that the price is alittle high for info given. id say investigate what filter comes with it and other misc. supplies. and maybe what the problem with the light is.if hes got a good filter, a heater with it, even the gravel, all that cann add up to quite abit if u need to buy it new.

just checked out the tank. the filter is an aquen hob that doesn't look to good. and the tank is filled half full of potting soil with plants in it. I also checked out the light, and it needs to be replaced. He doesn't have any gravel with it either, so I guess it needs quite a bit. I know the the guy, and he wouldn't lie to me, and said that it doesn't leak, he just doesn't have interest in it anymore. he also said he wasn't sure what to ask for it and just gave that price as a guess.
$200 in my area buys a brand new 60gal with stand, strip light and glass tops. $200 for something used, is a big gamble and pretty much a waste, since it sounds like you need to replace the lighting and supplement the filtration.

i did't buy the 60 gal tank as of yet. i have a 90 gal that i am supposed to look at this evening for the same price and everything supposedly works. I told the guys with the 60 gal tank that I would let him know something in a couple of days. I did really like the stand it came with, and checked and it goes for about $200. So depending on what i find tonight, I was thinking about offering $125 for everything, being as how I would have to get new lights and filter. what do you think
thanks again

i think 125 is a decent price. i would try for 100 though seeing that you have to buy filter, light, heater and other misc. things. thats at least 100$ if not more

$125 seems like a better price for a 60 thats used.
It sounds like the guy is trying to get his money back on the 60.

im guessing he doesnt really know what price is normal for that. i think the 125 sounds like a good offer to make.
