20 gallon tank heavly planted with platy baby factory in action, didnt understand why my platys were scratching themselves on the air line and why my ghost shrimp died. but now i know. some have ich, this has been going on for about a week, do 50percent water changes every week and have diy co2 injection and air stone, upped the temp to around 78-80 and treating with ich chemicals with bacteria additive. flushed the 3 really bad adults that were lack of charactor and had signs of bad infection. daily treatments of the ich chemical and with the first dose, fish seem more alert. the 2 albino catfish dont show signs but are swimming fools while the 3 others are cool and chilling, close inspection and none of the other fish are that infected as the ones i removed. talked to a couple different people and said treatment was a good idea and follow the directions on the bottle.
should i keep doing what i am doing?
lights on more or less?
alot of baby fish are in the tank and not showing any signs yet good or bad?
little more insite from the community please

You flushed live fish? Don't. There are humane methods of euthanasia, but ich is totally curable anyway. Other than that, your treatment is correct.

i hung it out with them, but when they start swimming upside down and floating to the bottom is when i removed them. not before.

You NEVER flush live fish, no matter how sick they are.
Personally I would have used the salt method, in any event, follow the directions on the bottle. If you break with ich again, do the salt method.

If I have to euthanize a fish, I put them in a small glass and put them in the freezer. Flushing them when they still have a tiny bit of life in them is bad.
I never treated for Ick before, but isn't salt in a planted tank not a good idea?
:welcome: to AC!
Here's an article on euthanasia.

Thanks for the link.
I thought putting them in the freezer would slow their heart rate down until it basically stopped. When I hear about the freezer method, it was never explained in detail
I will do the more correct method next time.

The small concentrations of salt needed to treat ich shouldn't affect plants, especially for the relatively short treatment period.

I too am a fan of using heat and salt for ich treatment. What chemical are you using to treat the ich? Alot of meds are toxic to inverts. I have had planted tanks do fine with salt and heat treatment, though most of my plants are "sturdy" low light plants.

i say for small fish under 3"... knife to the head. nothin quicker than that. thats alittle tougher to do with big fish imo
