I have some plastic coral-like tank decorations that I would like to use in a quarrantine tank. This coral is top heavy and normally needs a thick substrate to support it. However, in the Q-tank I will have little or no substrate. So, I'm looking for a fish-safe base to attach them to. Since it's just a Q-tank, it doesn't have to be pretty. Any suggestions?

use some stainless steel screws to attach the coral to a piece of slate.

Thanks for the response. Is this something I would find at a hardware store or a pet shop? Will any slate do or does it have to "aqurium slate" (if there is such a thing)?
