i have two powerhead 402's. they are on opposite ends of a 55 gallon tank, what direction should they be pointed in?? towards each other? pointed to make a circular current?

its honestly personal preference. I prefer having currents colliding to keep it random and lessen dead spots. when you have a circular current on the other hand, it creates a vortex where gunk will trap or build up. and if you have corals, they will grow with the current also.

Ill have to dig up a link to some info I learned about flow but ill try to give you the basic info I have gathered.
purpose of flow is to keep the detritus in the water column vs settling in your sand bed. And of course keeping dead spots from growing Cyano and other nasties.
In a 55 gallon I used to have for example... Far left upper corner I had a Korilla 3 aimed to the center of my display... same goes to the far upper right corner.
Dead center I had a Korilla 1 to basically kill the swirl and keep the detritus stirred till my skimmer can suck out the nasties.
