I just received a fluval 405 for my 75 gallon. What type of media should I use and in what order? All suggestions would be greatly appreciated... :help2:

I have sponge in the side compartment, coarse floss in the bottom tray, carbon in the next up, fine floss in the next up, bio rings in the top one. I do not run carbon on established tanks, but this filter is on a newly set up tank, I do run carbon in those for a couple months. When I remove the carbon, i will be replacing it with filter floss as well.

Carbon isn't necessary, if you do use it you will need to replace it weekly though.
Carbon is handy to keep at hand for removing medication and tannins from your tank.

I have another question. I've been reading alot about priming your filter.. What does this do and how would i do it??

You have to prime your filter for it to create the appropriate suction to pump with. Youre just getting all the air bubbles out.

You should have a primer on your filter.. look at the instrunctions for it it should show you where its at and how to use it.. I have a 404, it has a rod that you slide up and down and it pushes the air out of the filter.
