Hey I put in 2 bags of Eco-Complete earlier today in my 28 gallon aquarium and it clouded up the water big time, I was wondering, how long does it take for the water to clear up? Also, is it ok for live plants to be in the tank while the water clears? Because I bought quite a few today and already put them into the tank

Eco usually does not cloud, it should settle quickly. The plants will be fine.

Sounds good. It should settle out within 24 hours.

Hey the Eco-Complete started settling so me and my girlfriend went ahead and rearranged some of the plants and its dirty again...does this mean everytime i have to siphon or mess around with the bottom of the tank its going to be cloudy...its kind of a bummer :headshake2:

This is odd Eco should not do that. I have it in my 75 and it has never clouded even when I first filled the tank. I move things all the time with out any problems. Where did you buy this stuff?

It takes a little while for the small particles of dust to get filtered out. Give it time.

hey nolapete how long did it take for your eco-complete to filter out everything? Im hoping not to much longer so i can finish fixing it up and then start cycling it...
eco-complete is defiantly a mix between big gravel looking particles to very small particles, i purchased it for my plants because of all the benefitical stuff it contains and it looks very natural!
I haven't had any issues with Eco-Complete Planted clouding...so thats weird. This was a new tank set-up right? How does the tank look now? When the Eco-Complete was in the bag did the liquid look milky or anything? Because I remember at one point Carib-Sea had a manufacturing issue and pumped out a bunch of bad bags...
Also Eco-Complete comes in a couple different forms: Planted Black, Planted Red, Cichlid Gravel, Cichlid Ivory Coat, and Cichlid Sand.

did you wash the gravel???
did you wash the gravel???
It is not necessary to rinse Eco-Complete Planted before use...you just dump it in and go.

I used about 2 bags of Eco-Complete on my 29 gallon tank...Unsightly larged rocks/pebbles so I sifted it out until the small grains remained. And I just dumped both bags into the 29 gallon. It did not cloud but settled pretty quickly. Also Eco-Complete actually has live beneficial bacteria.
