I was wondering could I put a male & female betta in a ten gallon together without any fighting?

from my experience, you couldn't.... unless the male has a bubble nest established, he may be intolerant of her and fight...i suppose it can vary per fish but i wouldnt take the risk unless there was another tank handy...

NOOOOO! NEVER! There are a few unique set-ups in which male and female bettas can coexist peacefully. Even in a very large, well-planted tank it is extremely risky to attempt! Bettas that appear to "get along just fine" can change their mind at any time and attack one another resulting in injury and/or death. Many people have tried this with disasterous results. Get yourself either 1 male betta or 1 female betta and some small, colorful schooling fish for the tank.

UMM....NO!

Thats pretty much all that the answer can be!!! NO...it wont work without fighting! The only way that Bettas together will work is that if it is a large enough tank and it is just a group of females...and there is plenty of cover!

I wouldn't. Unless both are ready to breed, there will be fighting. :swear: A 10g won't provide enough room for the female to run and hide.

Ok thanks what about a female betta & a paradise fish in a 60 gallon with other fish?

A lot of times it is actually the female who goes after the male.

Don't mix different species of anabantoids (labyrinth fish) as they will defend their territories aggressively. Female bettas also do best in groups. With 60 gallons you could do around 8 or so depending on the rest of your stock.

Thanks. I dont think I want that many female bettas.
