Has anyone here fed their fish bruanschweiger. They love it, and cichlids go crazy for it. I feed my fish live earthworms and bruanschweiger, along with ham and shrimp. They won't eat green stuff al all. Most hobbyist claim that Leporinus Fasciatus are herbivore, but mine eats only meaty food.

I wouldn't feed it very often. Meats high in fat are very bad for fish--they can not metabolize the fats, which build up internally and can cause serious health problems. Similar to SW fish fed FW fish, the fish isn't able to process the fat and doesn't get the nutrients it does need. Many fish are not picky eaters, but just because they will eat it does not mean they should.

Herbivores should not be fed primarily meaty foods. Many diseases result from malnutrition--HITH being one that is common to cichlids. Gouramies fed a meat heavy diet are prone to constipation.

They will only eat meaty foods or flake. I have tried parsly, lettuce, cellery, and other greens, but they won't eat them. The hebivore Leorinus won't even eat the green stuff. He will only eat flakes, worms, and meat.
