Anyone know anything about the Rosy Loach?
Rosy loach, "Tuberoschistura arakanensis"
Would they eat Red Crystal Shrimp?
They're only supposed to be 1" long.

I wouldn't think a full grow one could fit a newborn shrimp in its mouth.
Frank on Franksaquarium.com used to have them, they're not on his loach list now though. Otherwise I haven't the slightest clue.

They look pretty awesome and from the pictures I've seen, seem to perch on rocks and leaves like Oto's sometimes do.

Loaches.com has some info on them from Martin. It seems they are so new that not much is known about them. I wouldn't think they would be able to eat the shrimp.
They do look neat though if I had the oportunity to get some. I would definatly setup a tank for them.
Where have you seen this loach for sale? They are very hard to get in the USA.

I personally haven't seen them for sale yet cause they're supposed to be new to the hobby. But Dwarf Puffers said that FranksAquarium.com used to have them, so we can only hope that they'll get them again in the future.

I don't think you'll see them much in the future to be honest. I've been trying to get some for over 2 years.

You can always try emailing him. He can usually get things back that he once had.

I've tried emailing the fish distributors to order them. ;)
They are just not coming in to the USA.

That sucks. They're really sweet and I would love to have them in my dwarf tank.

If anyone lives in Southern California, I found a shop that sells them. They're probably massively overpriced, but they're in Reseda/Tarzana/Woodland/West Hills. Whatever that area is called.

My lfs had them but wouldn't you know I had no tank to quarantine them.Their color was not rosy though :( more yellow/orange. May be diet related? Still quite cute but at $12 per tiny loach & no place to put them I had to pass. They don't seem to be hiders like some loaches.
There's still at least 1 there (Ned's) last time I looked but I'd want several if I got any.

Well, I think my chances are pretty much shot. If you can't get them in the US, I doubt any have ever been in Canada.

Does Frank ship to Canada? I'm sure it'd be a fortune! :Angel:All the more for me! :joke:

He's had them for a while. You could call & ask how many are left. But like I said they're not pink more yellowish

The rosies I have are total nutcases. They gang up and speed-patrol the bottom of the tank.. it's just delightful :D
They eat flake food very readily too.
They started out gray/yellow in the shop, but when I brought them home, the males reddened up a bit and the females gained a brown-red tint. They color much like cherry barbs.

That sounds exciting, Squeakfish! I love when fish get more beautiful with time. What are you keeping with them? Any pics?

One dario dario, and a nickel-sized angelfish. In a 10g with heavy plants.
They're about the size of my thumb and move like hummingbirds.. really hard to photograph.

Heh, yeah wouldn't surprise me. Do you remember which tank? I'm actually hoping he doesn't get more by the time I go Wednesday so I don't have to resist buying some.:lipssealedsmilie:

I think it was the aisle before the betta aisle on the right facing the koi, nearest koi, middle row. If you stand there a couple minutes the loach comes out to see what's going on, not shy

Man, I paid 4.99 apiece. Crazy.
I'm trying to get pictures, but they're so dang fast. Six of them makes it easier though.

Westpox on aquabid has them listed in a auction. I have no experiance with this seller, but I figured I would give you all the heads up.

FYI, got an email from Ned this morning, he's got 12 in stock. Oh how I wish I could afford them. :( But for anyone who can, and can drive to MA  they're there!

A LFS has them around here, Aquarium Center. They are tiny little things, but nice looking. They are about $4-5 each there. I would think it best to keep them in a good size school.

I just fed them bloodworms :] They lost their little loachy minds. It was about the cutest thing ever.

Can they eat whole bloodworms or do you have to slice them up?

I kept thinking one of them might choke, but they ignore the large pieces in favor of smaller ones. They know their limits.

So it looks like the one female loach is a righteous drama queen. She picks on the males pretty consistently. I think I might get a few more just to give her more targets to attack, because one of the males is decidedly smaller than the others.

Sounds like she may be more ready for action :naughty: than the little boys. Or she's just a tough girl :Angel:What's your male to female ratio?
I was supposed to get some from Frank at the NEC but he had to cancel out :mad2: He only had 9 left then.

1 female to 3 males. I lost two others. But I think I've only had one female this whole time. The males NEVER chase her.
