I will soon be rescaping my tank and I have some BBA on a few plants; anubias, lace java fern and willow hygro; will a bleach dip kill it off? If so, what % of bleach/water ratio do I use?
Thanks in advance for the advice! :)
Edit: Just thought of another question: I also have new plants arriving soon for the rescape however my Bolivian Rams are about to spawn! How can I keep the plants alive and healthy until I can safely rescape the tank without disturbing the rams/babies?

Yes bleach at a 19/1 ratio will kill the BBA. But in my experience it's real hard on the plants. In the past, I've lost some sword leaves after a bleach dip (But the plants came back).
When I have a sword or L. Repens with algae, I pull it out and dip in 3% hydrogen peroxide for about 2 minutes. The next day the BBA is pinkish/ orange in color and disappears in a couple of days. and the plant is unharmed. I'ts also safe for fish if you inject it into your aquarium. 2ml per gallon of water is the ratio.
But injecting it into the aquarium has never worked for me, only the H2O2 dip has.
H2O2 turns into oxygen and water after injection. MY fish are actually invigorated fy the added oxygen.
I buy 3% H2O2 at a local dollar store for 50 cents.

Thanks Charles! I will try to Hydrogen Peroxide when I pull the plants for the rescape....

Honestly if the BBA is not to bad i would just snip off the bad leaves. Bleach dip usually does in the plants as well. You could do and Excel did as well if you want to try dipping the plants.

It is a 45 gallon tank.....Here is a link to the thread (w/ a pic) about rescaping my tank. I am ordering 15 dwarf sags, 15 vallisneria spiralis and 1 amazon sword. I hope to have them within a week, but will be holding off on the re-do until my rams are finished with their hanky panky! :lipssealedsmilie: I will be keeping the 2 anubias, the lace java fern and the willow hygro (trimmed way down!)....I appreciate your input. :)

Noodles,
Tank looks good.
Here is my 46g:

the tall stuff is L. Repens which grows about 3" a week
I bought som L. Sessiflora and Hygro Sunset from FTM
and it;s growing well also.
You might try DIY CO2 to boost plant growth. (Don't let anyone tell
you that it won't work on your 45g.)

Wow! Your tank and angels are beautiful! I am trying to stay away from co2 if at all possible. I am trying to keep it as low tech as I can.
