My mystery snail laid eggs! The first time I found the gross pink crusty bubbly thing, I thought it was from bugs (and freaked out) and threw it out. But this time, I was like, wait a minute... they're eggs in the aquarium.... maybe something inside the aquarium laid the eggs. Something that could climb to the top of the aquarium, just under the lid. And what do I have that can do that? A snail!

But the odd part is that I only have one mystery snail. The other one died a few weeks ago. Do they lay infertile egg masses? Or how long do the females remain pregnant or whatever? How long do fertile ones take to hatch?

And I also took it off the aquarium wall, what do I do with it now?

The females can store sperm for a few months. :) They do lay infertile clutches as well. My clutches typically take 9 days to hatch. I incubate them in a small tupperware. I place a damp paper towel folded in the bottom, then 3 dry ones on top. I place the clutch on the uppermost dry towel and tightly lid it and float it in the tank that I am planning to raise them in. Around day 7-8, you will see the clutch go through a color change getting a blueish/whitish "moldy" appearance. They typically hatch within 24-48 hours of seeing the color change. I gently crush the clutch into a breeder box to raise the babies until pea-sized. This makes it easy to feed them and monitor their health. Congrats!

Do I have to float them in a heated aquarium or is a room temp aquarium okay?

room temperature is ok, it will take longer for them to hatch as the humidity and warmth effects the development. Up to 3 weeks for a clutch to hatch is considered normal. Some people will also place the incubator on top of a light strip for the warmth or a heating pad set on low. I find it easiest to just float them in a tank to have a consistent temp.
