My mystery snail laid eggs! The first time I found the gross pink crusty bubbly thing, I thought it was from bugs (and freaked out) and threw it out. But this time, I was like, wait a minute... they're eggs in the aquarium.... maybe something inside the aquarium laid the eggs. Something that could climb to the top of the aquarium, just under the lid. And what do I have that can do that? A snail!
But the odd part is that I only have one mystery snail. The other one died a few weeks ago. Do they lay infertile egg masses? Or how long do the females remain pregnant or whatever? How long do fertile ones take to hatch?

They do lay infertile clutches as well. My clutches typically take 9 days to hatch. I incubate them in a small tupperware. I place a damp paper towel folded in the bottom, then 3 dry ones on top. I place the clutch on the uppermost dry towel and tightly lid it and float it in the tank that I am planning to raise them in. Around day 7-8, you will see the clutch go through a color change getting a blueish/whitish "moldy" appearance. They typically hatch within 24-48 hours of seeing the color change. I gently crush the clutch into a breeder box to raise the babies until pea-sized. This makes it easy to feed them and monitor their health. Congrats!
