Well, I paid for several columbians in the middle of last month, but wanted to wait to have them shipped because of the holidays. Last week, the breeder shipped them out on Wednesday. Today, finally, they arrived. I'm honestly not sure if this is the first package or if she sent another package, but the email that we've been contacting each other through isn't working, and hasn't been since Saturday, when I let her know that they hadn't arrived yet. I was supposed to contact her yesterday and let her know for sure if they were there or not. She only lives two hours away, so it is possible that she just reshipped yesterday and they arrived today. I actually kind of hope that these guys are from the original package, otherwise, those poor snails. :( Well, some of them are definately alive, and don't seem to be shy in the least, others are still curled up in their shells. They're still cold and they're not in a tank yet, so I'll get pictures of the new babies once I get them into their new digs. :D

aw, poor snails :( aren't colombians the ones that get huge and eat plants?

Yup, they're plant eaters, and they get up to 2". Right now I have 3 in the tank, the others, I'm not sure if they survived the trip. :/

aw :( (crosses fingers)
i hope they pull through for you! i think its typical for some snails to stay locked up inside their shells for a while after shipping. How long were they in shipping?

Well, I'm not 100% sure. They were either mailed out last Wednesday or yesterday. I can't get ahold of the breeder to see if this was the original package or a replacement package. So far, there are four that are definately alive. Some are clamped up WAY inside of the shell, others, I can't tell (those ones are fairly small).

oh my. if your temperatures are similar to mine, then i would be shocked that any of them made it if it was shipped out last wednesday, it would be a solid block of an icy snail grave :( i would guess that they were the ones shipped out yesterday. what have your temps been like?

Cold and snowy. Later this week is worse. :/
The heatpack was somewhat cold, so it is possible that it was the Wednesday shipment.

We're up to five live ones in the tank.

Well, all of the paid for snails are alive. I bought 10, she sent 15, lol. I figured 10 would be good, then if I lost any, I could still at least get one male and one female to keep me going. If worst comes to worse, I can pull and freeze eggs. Either way, it looks like I will end up with more than what I was expecting (the full ten, lol, plus possible extras). I'm hoping the rest make it as well, and I'm hoping that this was the Wednesday shipment, otherwise, there're snails out there frozen somewhere. :(

You would be suprised on how tough those babies are. I shipped a package of them on Oct 7-08 and the package got loss and USPS couldn't locate it at all and I got it back in the mail Jan 5-09. I was so sure that they were all dead and out of 9, 7 were alive after being in the mail for nearly 3 months. When I relized they were alive I acclimated them and stuck them in qt and they were out eating within 5 mins.

I'm so glad the lowest temperature we get is only 22 degrees Celsius but that also means no spawning season at the moment for the diffusas except the canas which kept pouring more eggs.Haha! Congrats on the new acquisitions, Bettacreek!

Holy cow, Kim! So far, only three haven't moved, the rest are out. :D
Damodred, I know, I owe you, lol. I have to find my camera first. I literally lost my camera in my own home (I think I might have like three brain cells left lately).

Found it, lol.
Pic sucks, it's the only one that I could really get. I wasn't thinking about pictures when I put them into a QT tub. :/
