But Sea Monkeys are so much cuter. And my fish love them more than Sea Kittens.

vampie
01-13-2009, 4:44 PM
And you know, some of those "sea kittens" actually look freaky as opposed to cute.

Fish are cute in their own right anyways. My cat stopped slamming into mirrors ages ago, but my bettas and gobies still do it.

These people should hand out this nonsense in a barroom in Gloucester, MA. It would go over like a fart in a spacesuit.

That's funny. Whenever I've served grilled kitten at home, I told the kids it was 'land fish' in order to get them to eat it.

PETA is PITA - a bunch of kooks with too much time and too much money while exercising their too little brain. They need to find a real job and a real life.

"Sea Kitten" is on our menu and will always be a part of our menu regardless of what they wish to call it. I'm not a cow - I don't eat grass and grain.

I would like to see a sea kitten play with balls of yarn! Tara tuna is in a small tight place known as a tuna can! What a bunch of Wackos!

If you use their "write a letter to the politician" link, you can modify the letter to say whatever you want..

I wrote a letter explaining how absurd they are and that none of their bills should ever even see a vote...

even got a confirmation email from PETA saying it got sent! :D

PETA will cause more than a stir. They are against fishkeeping as a whole so they are always out of the loop as an option to address issues like this.

Sadly a diet high in fish is bad for cats, I believe that it can cause increased magnesium levels which can affect the kidneys. don't take my word I've got to research a little more but i believe that was what my veterinarian said.

but yeah, fish flavor is my cats favorite foods

Kashta
01-15-2009, 11:01 PM
Oh no, of course not. I didn't mean a steady diet of just fish. But that's a good portion of what goes into commercial cat foods... fish products. Silly PETA fanatics.

I guess PETA wouldn't like my family all the way around.....Let's see, I have venison (which I shot), I have duck and goose (which my husband shot), I have Lake Erie Walleye (which we trolled for), I have Lake Erie Perch (which we "jigged" for). I have 4 deer head mounts, 4 turkey tail mounts, 2 stuffed ducks.....oh and not to mention my deer head kitten aquarium.........the list goes on and on.

But I would like to thank them for the excellent deer hunt we had 4 years ago. They decided to march through the woods on opening day......they pushed all of the deer to us hunters and we all tagged out first day. It made things easy.

They are a bunch of loons!

I completely respect hunters that eat as much meat and use as many parts as they can off the animal they killed. The animals they hunt for live much better lives than the livestock raised in dirty and overcrowded conditions that are slaughtered for America's masses.

One mediums sized deer feeds me almost all year when butchered right. Not venison steaks but stew and other cuts as well. When I go out early in the morning I bring home enough "creek kittens" to feed my wife and myself breakfast. Then I bag a sea kitten or two when they are running. I also get veggies from neighbors and friends home gardens. So I have a majority of non-processed foods that are healthy and I am wrong for it??? Sorry PETA, I don't have 3-7 stomachs to process a straight grain diet. Get a life!

*looks in mirror to see if still has canine teeth. yup* looks like I'll be eating all the good wild game I can get, plus yummy local veggies. yes we all agree torturing and neglecting animals we choose to take responsibility of is wrong but so is anthropomorphizing fish making it seem like its a "sin" to eat healthy food that we can biologically digest better! or would that be felinemorphizing? sea kittens..yummy, I dig those forest puppys too! So just for the fun of it I did some quick reading. Having done a bit of abortion debate, i find PETA's issue similar when it comes to the ethics of consciousness. 5-10 minutes of reading any real text seems to show that PETA is, as suspected, completely nutters.

The main issue? no neocortex = no conscious awareness, no decision making process. From what I can read, at the same time there's the proper nociceptic pathways to the thalamus. The lights are on, but nobody's home.

On the other hand, I guess PETA might argue that it's like hauling a scaly Terry Schaivo with a working thalamic stimulator out of the water and clubbing her between the eyes.

I'll see your "Land Fish" and raise you a vegetable. :thm:
