These eggs appeared recently and are something of an enigma - I don't know what laid them. The inhabitants of this tank are: Lots of Red Cherry Shrimp, 1 Amano Shrimp, and several Malaysian Trumpet Snails. The shrimp carry their eggs, and MTS are parthenogenic livebearers, so the usual suspects have essentially been ruled out. There are also a lot of small flatworms (likely planaria) in my substrate, but as I've never seen them on the plants I doubt somewhat that they'd lay eggs there. The plants have been in my tank since last August, and I haven't added any livestock or plants since then.

For reference: the plant in the picture is a Java Fern, it's about 3/4 of an inch wide. The pic was taken with my gf's über macro lens, so they're a lot smaller than they look here.

Hrmm, looks gross. I don't think it's planaria, I've had those little *******s before and have never had eggs like that (I think planaria are livebearers).

those look similar to the spores on the underside of java fern leaves. Here's a pic:

Lol. I'm glad that's settled, but, it's still gross looking.
